EMDR is an evidence-based therapy approach initially developed as a treatment for trauma, but since its discovery in the late 1980s, it has been used in the treatment of everything from anxiety, panic, and phobias to depression, grief and loss. EMDR differs significantly from other approaches to therapy. According to EMDRIA, the professional organization that oversees EMDR training all around the world, "EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies."

Many therapeutic approaches incorporate the idea that the human personality is made up of many parts or aspects. It's likely that at some point in your life, you've found yourself saying something along the lines of "a part of me wants x...and another part of me wants y...". It's perfectly normal to have different parts of your personality that want and need different things. In my view, these different parts develop in response to our life experiences, both positive and negative. Each part serves a purpose and all parts have our best interests at heart, though they may sometimes manifest in ways that seem unhelpful to us. I help people to identify the parts that are in play in their internal worlds and facilitate engagement with those parts to provide an experience of healing and resolution that often cannot be achieved via traditional talk therapy.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an approach that is based around six core processes or principles: Present Moment Awareness; Values; Committed Action; Self-as-context; Cognitive Defusion; and Acceptance. By bringing these processes to bear on your life, you will be able to show up in the most challenging moments in a way that is aligned with who you want to be as a person and in congruence with the life you want to be living.

The ideas that many people have about hypnosis and hypnotherapy have been shaped by highly inaccurate portrayals in popular shows and films. In reality, hypnosis has deep roots that go back thousands of years, all the way back to the sleep temples of ancient Egypt. To provide a simple explanation of what's happening in hypnotherapy: I help you enter a state of inner absorption in which you are highly receptive to empowering suggestions that you and I will craft together to move your perceptions of yourself and your life in a positive direction. This receptive state allows hypnotic suggestions to sink in more deeply than if we were interacting with one another in your everyday state of consciousness, and this makes these suggestions much more impactful. Hypnotherapy is especially helpful if you have behavioral habits that you would like to change, such as smoking, problems with sleep, weight management, and so on. Item description
